The professional staff at The Bernardine includes:
- Full-time Site Manager
- Resident Service Coordinator
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Assisted Living Program Coordinator
- Enriched Living Supervisor
- Full-time Activities Director supported by
a staff of several part-time assistants - Maintenance and Support Services Director
A staff of Certified Home Health Aides provides immediate care for residents 24 hours a day - seven days a week. In addition, a registered nurse (RN) supervisor is always on-call at The Bernardine, 24 hours a day - seven days a week.
Loretto’s The Bernardine follows the New York State Department of Health standards for both our Enriched Living and Assisted Living Programs. The Bernardine also maintains all other standards set by the New York State Department of Health, U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and New York State Division of Human Rights (NYSDHR), in addition to all applicable federal, state and local codes and regulations, including Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity Employment.
The resident to staff ratio of the Enriched Living and Assisted Living Programs at The Bernardine is three-to-one (3:1).
Training & Continuing Education:
Medication Assistance certification training, a mandatory course that certifies each aide in medication administration, is required for all Home Health Aides at The Bernardine. In addition, Home Health Aides are required to attend regular on-going training sessions to maintain their skills and knowledge. On-going trainings focus on specialty areas, such as palliative care, dementia, and nutrition to help identify warning signs and symptoms that may require additional or follow-up medical care.
The Bernardine employs certified home health aides who have completed the required New York State-approved certification program, as well as an enhanced training course through the Loretto Learning Center which includes medication assistance training - a mandatory course in medication administration and assistance.
